Accreditation

Information on accreditation
on foreign degrees

Foreign degree accreditation is obtained at the Ministry of Education and Culture at two General Offices:
a) the Technical General Office, in charge of the accreditation of foreign degrees of higher education from any country and
b) the General Office of Higher Education, in charge of the accreditation of medical, pharmaceutical, and nursing degrees.

Higher education foreign degrees can be equivalent to the corresponding Spanish degrees, such as "Diplomado", "Licenciado", and "Doctor", provided they are sufficiently equivalent to a Spanish official degree in use at present, granted by any Spanish University at the time of the accreditation request. It should be distinguished between the accreditation procedure of foreign degrees for any foreign graduate regardless of the country that granted the degree and the accreditation procedure for professional practice established by the European Community Guidelines, exclusive for community citizens holding a degree from a European Community country allowing the practice of a certain regulated profession.
