Unless the student can stay at a the house of a friend or relative, there are other accommodation possibilities such as renting an apartment, staying at the university residence or, the most common one, sharing an apartment. However, until the student finds a definite place, and as a temporary solution, he or she may stay at economic youth hostels or boarding houses that can be found in many neighborhoods in Barcelona.
It is very common for students to share the rent with other students, since this situation helps them not only to reduce expenses but also to meet other students in the same situation, thus avoiding the feeling of loneliness.
